It is with great sadness, and regret, that we advise you of the death of Don Collins.
Don was Head of School 1957-58, taught Modern Languages for 32 years between 1967-99. Outside of the classroom, he served as Master in charge of rugby, Senior Housemaster of Jones, Director of the Sixth Form and Staff member of the Board of Governors.
He coached the 1970 Schools’ cup winning team and then refereed many schools matches. Don always had the Instonian family at his heart: he was the BOIA Archivist, compiling the Sea Horse magazine and was the driving force behind the hugely successful B.O.I.A. annual Belfast dinner. He was President of the Association in 2011-12.
Don’s funeral service will take place at Holywood Methodist Church, Church Road Holywood at 10.30 on Thursday 5 September 2024.
